Charters
Taking a charter is often a very
exciting experience. There are many things you can do to make the most out of any fishing
trip.
The sun is a major factor during a day of fishing. Many people to not realize the dangers
of the sun until it is too late. The reflection of sunlight off the water and decks of
most boats tends to double the sun's intensity compared to a day on land. Sunscreen is
very important as well as some type of hat. Sunglasses are essential and polarized lenses
help to reduce glare from the water's surface. Lightweight long-sleeve shirts and pants
are becoming popular forms of sun protection.
If you are even slightly susceptible to sea sickness, we suggest that you consider some
sort of remedy (there is nothing worse than being sick on the ocean). For most people,
over-the-counter medications, such as Dramamine, seems to work fine. A popular trick is to
take a dose prior to bedtime the night before, followed by an additional dose before
departure (effectiveness is greatly reduced if you wait until symptoms appear). As with
any medications, please consult a physician first! Other remedies include ginger ale and
pressure bands worn on the wrist.
If you plan to document your trip, don't forget to bring your camera and video equipment.
We have dry storage on the boat; however, large ziplock bags make easy water proofing for
the ride.
Lightweight rain gear is handy for afternoon showers or when a cool breeze arises.
Footwear is a must on a boat. Although it feels great to go barefoot, it is very dangerous
in a situation filled with hooks, gaffs and sharp teeth. Shoes with good traction are
essential and black rubber soles are taboo. Black soles leave scuff marks all over the
boat which are very hard to remove.
Bring whatever food and beverages you prefer (coolers and ice will be provided). Alcohol
in moderation is allowed but for safety reasons, intoxication will terminate the fishing.
Any legal fish you catch are yours. We will clean and bag your catch for you. We advise
you on current size and catch limits as well as conservation ethics. Once you have reached
your limit of a certain species, tell us if you want to keep fishing for catch and release
fun or move on to another species. |
